Every time Sarah Palin opens her mouth she lowers the bar as to how asinine a public figure can appear. I feel unclean simply reading her comments. That such a large segment of the population supports her positions and take her seriously as a pundit is a tribute to the permeation and success of reality TV.
Her latest missive was delivered in response to Barack Obama’s state of the union speech in which he unveiled the slogan, “Winning the Future.” Here are Palin’s comments:
His theme last night in the State of the Union was the “WTF,” you know, “Winning the Future.” And I thought, “OK, that acronym, spot on.” There were a lot of “WTF” moments throughout that speech, namely, when he made the statement, Greta, that he believed that we can’t allow ourselves to, I guess, eventually become buried under a mountain of debt.
How many hours do you suppose did it take her team to come up with the idea of taking a corny political slogan and turning it into a vulgar joke. With Pailn you have someone who ostensibly aspires to the presidency, and here she is, in so many words, saying ‘what the fuck.’ I’m assuming that this is her attempt at appealing to the younger generation. She’s speaking their language! The language of the internet.
The trouble is that it’s neither funny nor clever. It comes across as facile and smarmy. Furthermore, she delivered the line in the syntax of a caveman.
“That acronym spot on.”
Sarah want be president. She talk common language.
In an era of dumbed down politicians that strive to appeal to the working class, Palin is an abomination. Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney may be rotten as the day is long but they are intelligent people who deliver their ideas in complete, cogent sentences.
Palin is incapable of critical thinking. She has shrewdly capitalized on her fifteen minutes of fame. Her folksy demeanor has resonated with a small but fervent segment of the population, but for most of us her act is wearing thin.
I’ll say this for Palin. She has done what I once thought was impossible – she’s made Geroge W. Bush appear introspective.

Our football jovialities aside, you sound like a script writer for the number one misogynist in America, Chris Matthews. You leftists have for so long allowed the Steinem feminists to describe a woman, especially in politics, that you all had to change your BVD’s when McCain announced Palin as his running mate. You didn’t know what to do with a pretty, successful, entrepreneurial wife and mother who didn’t abort her physically challenged infant, and to whom many folks responded in very positive fashion.
And since then, the left has been unrelenting, and she is till kicking your silly opinions all over the map. Her WTF was priceless . . . how anyone, left or right, could look at that sophomoric telepromting and call that a State of the Union address in any presidential sense,
has to be hitting some of that high tone Mexican weed being catapulted over that border Janet Napolitano is supposedly guarding so well.
If Palin were as bad as you on the left say she is, no one would pay attention to her, and the left wouldn’t waste 5 more minutes dissing her. The left is genuinely frightened, because she is connecting with many in America at the same time the once golden boy Bammster is being exposed for inexperienced tool of the left he truly is.
You go ad hominem – Cavewoman from Wasilla . . . vs. The Marxist from the Really Honest CIty of Chicago. Always cover your flanks and rear before making a headlong charge, Dude..
Of course, Palin, like you and the Bammster, adores gummint, which is why she is way too left for me to vote for her. Obama may have trouble getting Michelle to vote for him, given the absolute shambles he has made of the economy and the debt–neither of which any of you can any longer whine and blame on Bush. It’s Obama’sa presidency, remember???
If your candidate had the requisite skills and abilities to really be a President of substance, you would be extolling his virtues, and wouldn’t waste a minute on Palin.
But she has the left running scared. Fun to watch y’all scramble like you do. 🙂 You guys can’t find ill enough to say about her. So much for the new civility!

I alluded to this in the post but I thought Obama’s slogan was corny and juvinile and was a way of sugar coating the fact that we have real problems that his administration is too afraid to address. The whole thing with the Republicans and Democrats sitting next to each other was bogus as well. If it will make you feel any better I hate Rush as much as Palin. All of those guys are rotten to the core, it’s just that some, like Gigngrich are actually smart.

Hey dude, I couldn’t agree more. It’s not a conversation or a dialogue when the main response to an entire State of the Union speech is to make puerile joke. It reminds me of the times in high school when a teacher was trying to get the class to talk about something real but all anyone could talk about was how the teacher’s shirt was untucked.

You guys on the Left are so frightened of Palin it is palpable.
Jenny, after 52 minutes of puerile socialistic dribble from the Bammster–a speech widely panned by even the Left and even Keith himself above, Sarah caught the mood of most folks out there.
WTF?
If the Bammster’s speech IS the state of the union, then I might opt to agree with Keith as to what Palin really should have called that travesty. And for the record, Palin was not there to conduct a conversation or a dialogue. At least get the context right, ok? Keith, she winks at leftists, it drives y’all nuts! 🙂

Hold on a minute, jb. I didn’t pan the entire speech, I panned his corny slogan, Win the Fight, or whatever it was. The fact that anyone thinks Obama is radical is beyond me. He is a center-left politician who is bending over backwards, to a fault, to accomadate the opposition.
It does drive us nuts about Palin. What really gets me is how so many people can take her seriously — it would be one thing if she was at all capable or knowlegeable.

Dude–while, as I said, I could not vote for Palin, nor most of the pretend conservatives, most of us out here who measure matters by both words and deeds, and in regard to individual rights first, and not some politician’s measure of himself, reject outright the illusion (that is what it is) of Obama as “center-left.” He ignored the “opposition” for two years, and the voters cleaned his party’s clock. He really has no choice but to foist the illusion of center-left, or he will end up with a legacy that will redeem Carter’s, and that is saying something.
Actually, he is, more precisely, a Gramscian, but that is another topic for another day.
